Advancement Legends Podcast: Andrew Gossen
No one could ever accuse Cornell’s Andrew Gossen of not being an early adopter.
After an educational journey that took him from Princeton to Harvard to a brush with Gaelic culture, Gossen wanted to explore what it was like to create something. He first got that opportunity at his alma mater when he began spearheading Princeton’s alumni travel programs (18:00). His role grew and by 2007 he was one of the first on the scene with leveraging social media to increase alumni engagement (24:00).
Gossen’s passion for digital tactics drove him to Cornell in 2010 where he implemented a “digital first” strategy and mindset that still drives his role with the Big Red today (32:00). “It’s ok to have fun” was a resonating theme when Gossen touched on the philosophy and content strategy formula at Cornell (36:00).
More recently, he has become an industry leader and crowdfunding donations while partnering with different constituencies on campus (39:00) and has implemented an Engagement Index that includes Cornell’s digital efforts (43:30).
